Intern Coordinator / Management

Education within a college and/or university alone no longer guarantees you a good job. Classes pertaining to your major are no substitute for real world job experience and this internship does not consist of typical thankless and menial work, but provides a true hands-on experience through direction and personal management. Completing this internship experience will help put you at the top of the list among job candidates.

The Family Reunion Intern Coordinator / Management position is an excellent opportunity to put your business and management education to good use.  You will be trained on how to manage interns doing several different positions so that they effectively work together as a team on different projects. You will be responsible for helping interns with time management skills and assisting in organizing tactical plans to help interns achieve and surpass goals. You will be intrumental in making sure all interns reach their fullest potential while completing their projects within deadlines.  

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge and ability to write comprehensible emails
  • Phone etiquette
  • Basic understanding of email (Outlook)
  • Currently enrolled at any college or university (or graduated), with at least one management or business class fulfilled
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Understanding of the importance of compromise in a group setting
  • Ability to adjust and comprehend constructive criticism
  • Strong writing skills
  • An understanding of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Google Docs
  • Consistent with following up already completed tasks
  • Ability to give constructive criticism

Duties Include:

  • Daily emails communicating with members
  • Product development
  • Constant communication with the Editor
  • Collaboration with other interns and group projects
  • Developing and constantly updating Organization Manual and intern opportunity descriptions when new circumstances arise
  • Explore new ideas for inclusion in the organization's strategy
  • Compile a portfolio of completed training assignments at the end of the internship

By the end of this training the trainee will have learned to:

  • Support the organization's interns
  • Participate as part of a team, on shared assignments and projects
  • Work efficiently in an environment where regular appraisal/evaluation offers opportunities to give and receive feedback
  • Gain a true understanding of what it means to manage a diverse group of people
  • Establish relationship development with writers and contributors to the website
  • Manage a variety of projects
  • Demonstrate valuable leadership and teamwork skills  
  • Improve personal presentation and communication skills

Length Requirement:

The position is open for as long as the student would like, but a minimum length of 12 weeks, (21 to 35 hours/week) is required to receive a Certificate of Completing and a Letter of Recommendation.


This position is open to students or graduates of any college or university. The students' interests must lie in management and organizational skills.

College Credit:

While this is an UNPAID internship, student interns will have an opportunity to receive college credit. Contact your undergraduate advising officer for more information on academic credit.
